Do you have a passion in life? A goal or dream?
What about two? That’s exactly what Just Learn Balance is – all my passions,
goals and dreams rolled up in one fun business. As a girl that grew up loving
sports I couldn’t live in North Carolina and not fall into the trap they call
NASCAR. While, I myself hate to drive, there’s something about the adrenaline I
get watching my favorite drivers rough up other drivers with a 3500lb car. Hint
– first passion.
Then
there’s health. I’ve always been an active person, as I played every sport
offered throughout grade school and high school. Once I entered college I
became a gym fanatic, and was inspired and even more motivated when my brother
began competing in power lifting competitions. Along with working out comes
eating right. Not dieting, which many confuse healthy eating with, but living a
healthy lifestyle. I soon earned the reputation with my friends and family as
the ‘health nut.’ When Holiday’s came around I designated myself the
dessert chef so I knew what ingredients were going in my mouth. This quickly
became my second passion.
However,
when I was studying in college it wasn’t health or nutrition that I studied but
rather public relations and journalism as I’ve always had an inner writer in
me. Once I graduated, I had a degree in public relations, was freelancing for
small race teams and shaking my head in disgust as I watched what they ate on
the road. I will never forget driving to a racetrack with a car owner and a van
full of crew guys as we searched for a place to stop for lunch. We drove my
exit sign after exit sign with a list of the restaurants nearby. “No McDonalds”
the car owner said, “that’s unhealthy, I’m trying to find something on the
lighter side.” So on we went passing by Subway, and anything that might have
the word “light” in their menu. There was one restaurant he had his eye out for
and we finally found it – good ol’ KFC. I sat there trying to figure out why he
might think this was a good choice and I remembered they now offer grilled
chicken so maybe there was hope that we could find something that wouldn’t
leave us licking our fingers of grease. But, of course, that would be a healthy
choice and clearly this guy had never heard that particular “H” word because he
intentionally led us to a buffet KFC where there wasn’t a green piece of food
on the menu, nor grilled chicken. While it gave me a good laugh, it dawned on
me that some people are really that unknowledgeable about food nutrition. This car owner for instance
sees the word chicken and automatically thinks it’s healthy. I
suddenly found my calling. Let’s combine my PR knowledge and passion for living
a healthy lifestyle and offer marketing and nutritional advice to people in
racing.
Just
Learn Balance, (my initials), is the balance of
providing a little bit of everything that a car owner, driver, or pit crew
member may need to be the best he or she can be in the fast pace racing world.
Most teams can’t afford a full-time marketing person so they freelance
someone to write their weekly press releases. While many think racing is all
about going fast, the sport has become all about sponsors therefore marketing
is not something teams can do without if they are looking to be seen and heard.
In addition, health is now playing a huge role in the sport as many teams are
hiring ex-hockey players and football players to field their pit crews. Many
teams, of course, can’t afford that either so they use the crew guys at the
shop who’s only exercise for the day consist of beating sheet metal and running
to be the first one out the door for lunch break. And don’t even get me started
on what they usually choose to eat during those lunch breaks.
This
full service marketing and fitness agency offers all the above, under one roof,
and at a reasonable price. No more hiring someone to do your press releases
from this business and then hiring a personal trainer from this company. We are
the go-to-company for all a team needs to become a successful – minus the
car part.
